Owens Corning Ridge Vent Installation: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Owens Corning-compatible ridge vent systems throughout Fort Worth, with most full ridge vent replacements running between $850 and $1,900 installed depending on roof length and decking condition at the ridge. Most Fort Worth homes we service are done in a single day once we’re on site. Homeowners usually call us after they spot granules collecting in gutters near the ridge line, find water stains on ceiling corners, or notice the vent material itself has warped or cracked from years of North Texas sun.

Ridge vent isn’t a part you replace often. When it fails, though, it fails in ways that matter: heat builds up in the attic, shingles cook from underneath, and moisture gets a foothold. We walk the ridge, measure what’s there, and tell you straight what it needs.

Which Owens Corning Models This Applies To

We install ridge vent compatible with the Owens Corning VentSure line, including the standard 4-foot rigid sections and the low-profile WeatherPROTECT series. Owens Corning designed VentSure to work as a system with their Duration and Oakridge shingle lines, but the vent itself is a universal-fit product: it works with GAF, CertainTeed, and other architectural shingles we install as well.

The gotcha most Fort Worth homeowners run into is mixing vent types on one roof. If a previous contractor installed a rolled mesh product like Cobra Ridge Runner and a section has failed, you can’t piecemeal a rigid VentSure section into that run and expect balanced airflow. The fix is either replacing the failed section with the same rolled product, or replacing the entire ridge run with rigid vent so airflow is consistent end to end. We’ll tell you which route makes sense based on what’s actually up there. Identifying your current vent is straightforward: rigid Owens Corning sections are stamped with the VentSure name on the underside, while generic rolled products usually have no markings at all.

We’re an independent Fort Worth roofing contractor, not an Owens Corning corporate installer. That means we’re not locked into one product line. We’ll match what you have, or explain why a different vent style serves your roofline better.

Signs Your Owens Corning Ridge Vent Installation Is Failing

  • Granules in the gutters near the ridge line. Shingle granules washing down from the ridge area means the shingles capping the vent are breaking down, which exposes the vent’s leading edge to weather and lets wind-driven rain get underneath.
  • Attic heat you can feel through the ceiling upstairs. A working ridge vent pulls hot air out along the entire ridge. When it’s clogged with dirt or the vent throat was cut too narrow at installation, that heat stays trapped and your upstairs rooms stay hot well after sunset.
  • Water staining in ceiling corners or along the ridge beam. This points to a failed seal at the vent’s edge flashing. Fort Worth’s thunderstorms push rain sideways, and a lifted or cracked vent edge gives that water a path in.
  • Visible warping or sagging in the vent sections. The polyethylene used in many ridge vent products softens and deforms after a decade of DFW sun exposure. Once the profile is no longer flat, water pools instead of shedding, and the vent stops doing its job.
  • Higher cooling bills without any other change. Attic heat radiating down through the insulation forces your AC to work harder. If your vent is compromised, the thermostat numbers tell you before you see anything from the ground.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a standard single-story Fort Worth home with a 40 to 60 foot ridge line, expect to pay between $850 and $1,400 installed. Two-story homes or roofs with multiple ridge sections run higher, typically $1,200 to $1,900, because we’re working at height over multiple roof planes and the access setup is more involved.

Scope Typical Installed Price
Single ridge run, 40-60 linear feet $850 – $1,400
Multiple ridge sections or two-story access $1,200 – $1,900
Decking repair at ridge (if rot found) $75 – $150 per 4×8 sheet, added to base
Full ridge vent replacement with new cap shingles Included in the prices above, not a separate line item

Every quote includes the vent material, cap shingles matched to your existing roof color as closely as the manufacturer allows, new fasteners, and full cleanup with magnetic sweeper pass so no stray nails end up in your driveway or your dog’s paw. Travis Oakley reads every estimate before it goes out. The price goes on paper before any work starts, and it does not move at the door. No change orders unless you sign off on something we found after the surface was opened up.

Our install is backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: one full year in writing. If anything fails in that window, we come back at no charge. That’s the Garrison Standard, and it applies to every vent we put on a Fort Worth roof.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things from the ground: look for sagging vent sections, missing cap shingles, or clear daylight coming through gaps at the ridge when viewed from the attic. Those observations help you know what you’re dealing with.

We recommend against doing ridge vent replacement yourself, and not because it’s the hardest roofing task. It’s the details: the vent throat must be cut to the exact width the manufacturer specifies for your vent model, the end caps need proper sealing, and the cap shingle nailing pattern has to land in the nail line or you’ll have exposed fasteners leaking within a year. Most failed ridge vent installs we see in Fort Worth Trace, Park Glen, and Wedgwood started as a weekend project that looked fine from the driveway. If you want to verify what’s failing before you spend anything, call us and we’ll walk the ridge and tell you what we find. Tell me what the roof is doing, we’ll figure out what it needs.

If you’d rather not think about it again for 20 years, call (682) 900-7902 and we’ll get you a written quote.
