IKO Shingle Repair: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
IKO shingle repair in Fort Worth typically runs $385 to $850 for a straightforward repair of 10 to 25 shingles, including materials, labor, and a written workmanship guarantee. We stock IKO-compatible shingles in the most common Fort Worth colors on our trucks, which means most repairs happen in a single visit. The part fails quietly most of the time: a wind-lifted tab, a cracked corner you spot from the driveway after a storm, or granule loss that suddenly shows up in your gutters.
IKO makes a solid shingle, but North Texas weather works every roofing product hard. The combination of hail, 100-degree attic heat, and the occasional ice morning means the sealant strip under each shingle takes a beating. When that bond breaks, the shingle lifts, wind gets under it, and one broken tab becomes a repair that matters. Let’s go through what you should know before you call anyone.
Which IKO Models This Applies To
Most Fort Worth homes with IKO shingles have either the Cambridge architectural line or the Dynasty performance line. We also see the older Marathon and Royal Estate lines on homes from the early 2000s. The repair part matters because IKO colors and dimensions are not interchangeable with other manufacturers. A Cambridge “Weatherwood” is not the same as a GAF “Weatherwood,” and the shingle width and exposure differ slightly between brands. Mixing brands on a repair looks wrong and, more importantly, leaves a seam that leaks.
Here’s the gotcha most homeowners don’t know: IKO has changed the Cambridge color formulation twice in the last decade. If your roof was installed before roughly 2015, a new bundle of “Oxford Grey” will not match what’s on your roof now. We address this honestly by pulling a sample from your roof, comparing it against our current IKO stock, and telling you if we need to order a closer match. If a perfect match isn’t available, we’ll tell you that too, before any work starts. That’s a conversation some roofers skip because it costs them a quick job. It doesn’t cost you anything to know the truth.
We use OEM IKO shingles for repairs whenever the color and series are current. For discontinued IKO colors, we work with the homeowner to find the closest current IKO shade or, if that’s not acceptable, discuss a partial rerun of the affected slope. We don’t push cheap aftermarket look-alikes and call it a repair.

Signs Your IKO Shingle Repair Is Failing
- Granules in the gutter or at downspout bases. IKO shingles shed some granules in year one, but heavy blue-gray or brown grit in the gutter years later means the asphalt surface is breaking down. The shingle’s water-shedding ability drops with every rain after that. This is the earliest sign most owners catch after a hail event.
- Curling or lifting shingle corners. When the IKO sealant strip loses its bond, shingle corners lift even in mild wind. You’ll see it from the ground as an uneven shadow line. Under the lifted tab, the underlayment is now exposed to UV and rain. Left alone, that becomes a leak in the next big storm.
- Missing shingle tabs after a wind event. A torn-off tab doesn’t always mean the whole shingle needs to go, but it always means the roof’s first line of defense is gone where you can see it. If you wait, the exposed nail line and underlayment start failing. In Fort Worth, a missing tab in April is a ceiling stain by June.
- Discolored or dark streaks that run straight down a slope. This is typically algae, not shingle failure, and IKO shingles installed in shaded Fort Worth exposures are prone to it. It’s cosmetic, but the real risk is homeowners ignore it and miss a developing leak underneath. We can clean algae and check the shingle condition in the same visit.
- Blisters or raised spots that feel soft if pressed. This is moisture under the shingle surface, often from trapped heat and moisture in the attic. Blistered IKO shingles are failing structurally, not just cosmetically. Replacing them before they break open saves the decking underneath.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s the honest Fort Worth price picture for IKO shingle repair. A small repair of 8 to 12 shingles, one-story, easy access, runs $385 to $575. A larger repair of 15 to 25 shingles, or a repair on a second story or steep pitch, runs $575 to $850. If the damage goes deeper, say rotted decking or torn underlayment under the shingles, we price that separately and show you the line item before any work starts. You’ll never see a price change at the door.
Every repair includes the IKO shingles or approved match, replacement nails, sealant, disposal of the old material, and a written workmanship guarantee good for one full year. If the repair fails within that year, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s the Garrison Standard: a written price before any work starts, background-checked uniformed technicians on the roof, and a live person answering the phone if you call.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check two things from the ground: count the visible lifted or missing shingles, and note which roof slope they’re on. That’s useful information to have when you call. Going up on the roof is a different decision. Fort Worth roofs get punishingly hot by late morning, and walking a shingle roof without the right shoes and a fall harness is how a $500 repair becomes a hospital bill. We carry full fall protection and do this work weekly, and we don’t recommend a homeowner do it off a ladder from Home Depot.
If you’ve got IKO shingles that look wrong, call us at (682) 900-7902. Travis Oakley will walk the roof himself, check the decking and flashing by hand, and give you a straight answer before a single shingle comes off.
FAQs
IKO Cambridge and Dynasty shingles in Fort Worth typically last 18 to 25 years, but that assumes the roof was installed correctly and has proper attic ventilation. Fort Worth’s hail and heat cycle shortens that lifespan compared to cooler climates. If you bought a home with IKO shingles that are 15-plus years old and showing granule loss, a repair is a stopgap, not a permanent fix. Call (682) 900-7902 and we’ll tell you what’s realistic for your specific roof.
Yes, if the damage is a small crack or a single lifted tab, a repair can re-seal it with roofing cement in about 10 minutes. If the shingle is cracked through or torn, replacement is the only option that doesn’t leave a leak path. The repair-vs-replace call should be made on the roof, by someone who’s looked at the shingle close up.
A typical IKO shingle repair, from setup to cleanup, takes 1 to 3 hours depending on the number of shingles and the roof’s pitch and height. We’ll give you a written time estimate before work begins, and we clean up all nails and old shingle material before we leave.
Yes, we carry current IKO Cambridge and Dynasty colors in the most common Fort Worth shades on our trucks. If your roof predates the current IKO color run and we need to order a closer match, we’ll tell you that before any work starts, and we’ll give you the lead time in writing.
